CY-668AThe ES-2008 Wireless FM Transmitter Variant

The no-encoder two-chip variant

As we are finding out with these devices, although many may appear to be identical externally, on opening them up, it appears that hardly any two are the same.

This one, bought direct from China in early 2008 has the usual display, thermometer, USB power connector and torch just like the 668a, but the first thing we note from the rear of the PCB is that the stereo encoder is conspicious by its absence.

ES-2008 Variant (rear)

There are only two chips in this device, one on the rear of the board and one below the LCD display on the front. We can only assume that the latter handles the stereo encoding functions as well as being a microcontroller.

Note also that the power arrangements are simplified. This model appears to lack the switch mode supply circuit. The holes for the antenna connector are also absent.

The PLL is again the GP214D
