Schlumberger / Solartron / Wavetek SI4923 Radio Code Analyser

SI4923

This piece of test equipment comes from the era when mobile phones were exploding into the marketplace. It is designed to generate test tones, and decode test tones for cellphones, pagers and data radios.

I can't find out much about this device on the web. Mine's badged as a Schlumberger but I believe it was produced under the Solartron and Wavetek badge as well. It arrived with an adhesive lable on the front saying SI4923 but when removed, inderneath it said SI4922.

It has a pocsag test function which generates pocsag data although I cannot find a way of decoding it directly. It will, however, decode and encode FSK, FFSK, PSK, DPKSO, DPSK1, BI'*',BI' ' , NRZ, and RZ.

It's got a useful audio generator and the perameters are described as 30Hz - 30kHz at 10mV - 3V. At first glance, it seems it can be set to any value up to 9.9999v although in practice, the p-p voltage becomes erratic above 3v.

DESCRIPTION

The 4922 Radio Code Analyzer generates and analyzes call setup messages for cellular mobiles, messages for radio data, tone sequences for selective call and telephone dialing signals. It also serves for generating two precise AF signals. It provides Test programs for C-Net, FRG, Net-C Austria, C-Net SAPO, NMT, Amps, TACS, Radio Comm 2000, ZVEI binary, POCSAG, FMS, and User Defined Signaling Systems. Combine with the Stabilock 4040 (sold separately) and correct system interface (ie. AMPS/TACS or C-Net) for a complete cellular test system.
