The R20 has a number of scan modes as you might expect.
Scanning is achived by pressing down the SCAN button and holding until you see SCAN: in the bottom left of the screen. You can then use the scroll knob to select what it is you want to scan. Scanning starts as soon as you release the SCAN button.
The scanning function differs significantly depending on whether you are in VFO or Memory mode.
To stop scanning at any point, press DUALWATCH

When in VFO mode, hold down SCAN, and if necessary, scroll to SCAN : ALL. The R20 will start scanning upwards from where you were previously stopped. To reverse the direction of scanning and scan downwards in frequency, twist the tuning knob anticlockwise.
The R20 will scan through the whole range of the scanner. |

As well as scanning, you can also give priority to certain channels so that you won't miss any action when you're listening to another frequency. |

It's possible to make the R20 ignore certain frequencies that you don't want cropping up in a scan or search. This is done by programming them in as a channel and setting them as SKIP or PSKIP. |
