A FEAST OF FLESH

HE village of Shaerie stands half a days ride Northeast from Stillwater Lake towards Raketon-on-Hill and features in the scenario "A Feast of Flesh" by Peter Hokins in issue #77 of "Dungeon" magazine. Issue #77 is a particularly useful collection of scenarios and I heartily recommend it to all DM's in need of something for the weekend.

The village is currently suffering from an infestation of giant beetles which have been indiscriminantly devouring its inhabitants and their livestock. Consequently the remaining villagers have holed up in their homes. The situation is a cross between the movies "Tremors" and "Aliens", dont forget to add the frightened little girl who tells the PC's that "they mostly come at night...mostly".

HOW THE HOLERS HANDLED IT!

The players managed to get two of their number seperated from the main party (big mistake) when Toren and Redd decided to make a run for it with the horses. Fortunately for Toren and Redd the beetles were hording the majority of their prey as food for the next hatching of hungry larvae and were injected with a paralysing poison, sadly their horses weren't so lucky.

This scenario introduced three new characters Jasina Leafbane (odd name for an elf?) and elven ranger, Alwyn Llancale a druid and Oneaway (Ray, an explanation please). This bolstered the party's numbers and made for an interesting session as they made their way from the other end of the village to team up before a daring night raid on the beetle tunnels. They left Shaerie in various paralysed, tombrot infested and beaten up states.
