I was once told of the six P's - Perfect Preparation Prevent Piss Poor Performance. Bearing this in mind, and the fact that I would one day like to build a kit-car in the comfort of my own garage, I set about turning the garage from a place where the household rubbish is stored into a prim and proper(-ish) workshop.

With this in mind the first thing required to do was to brighten up the place and try and tackle the dust problem. The answer to this was simple - extra lights and a coat of paint.

So, strip lights were installed on the ceiling to add extra light. Immense improvement - I would recommend this to anyone who has not yet done it, even if you're not building a kit.

The garage walls were then painted white and with the extra brightness from the strip lights I cannot beleive how bright it has made the place. The floor also had a bit of work done to it. All the edges were filled and sealed so that none of those lovely spiders to join in the fun. Then the floor was painted to help keep some of the dust at bay. I did have an old bedroom carpet on the floor prior to the cleanup and I'm still debating wether to keep it or not. My preference is not to, but it may help keep some of the coldness away.

Coincidental that it's also Rememberance Day here in the UK. Guess I should then remember the day that I started the wheels in motion.
