Logistical and political factors meant that Barry Lyndon was filmed in many and varied locations. The action was filmed in England and the Irish Rebublic

In Ireland, the locations included the Comeragh mountains (Barry's mother's house), Caher Castle, County Tipperary (the Brady family home), Powerscourt (battle scenes), Dublin Castle (the Chevalier's home) Google Earth Link, Waterford and Kilkenny (where Barry meets Captain Potsdorf), County Clare (dance) and Lavenham Guildhall, Suffolk (final scene)

In England, a number of stately homes were used including Wilton, Castle Howard, Corsham Court, Glenum, Petworth, Longleat and Glastonbury Rural Life Museum

Exterior shots of Potsdam were filmed by a second unit
