Nominated Contacts & Must Notify List
For all of our services you need to provide us with a list of two (minimum), three or four people that you have chosen to be called in an emergency or if you need assistance. They can be a neighbour, a friend or a relative who has access to your home. We hold and maintain this list.
As an additional option, you can provide us with a list of those who must be notified. This means that we will try to reach one of these contacts to let them know what has happened. People listed as 'Must Notify' are generally family members or close friends who need to know that there has been an emergency so that they can be with you.
They do not need to live close by, they could even be abroad, but they just want to know when there has been an emergency.
Community Alarm with Pendant
With modern technology it is now possible to have a solution that offers a fast, easy and reliable way to summon immediate help, whatever the time of day of night. So the fear of "What if" is diminished and replaced by a feeling of reassurance and peace of mind.
Clients are provided with a pendant (which is worn around the neck or on a belt loop) and a base alarm unit that is connected to your home telephone. If you require help at any time of the day or night you simply press the button on the pendant and you will be connected to the 24-hour response service offering personal protection 7 days a week, 365 days a year. At the touch of a button, you will be connected instantly to a caring professional.
Call at any time and you can be sure of speaking to staff who are aware of your special circumstances and have all the skills and equipment they need to get you the help you require.
When you press the button, it activates your base unit, which automatically calls the response centre. Trained personnel will call your home to see what help is needed. If they are unable to reach you by telephone they will call your responder as well as an ambulance.
The pendant alarm can be worn in three different ways and is easily switched from one method to another.
A comfortable soft fabric strap allows the pendant to be worn on a wrist. The pendant can be removed from the wrist strap and, with the appropriate attachment, worn pager style on a garment or belt or around the neck on a light plastic chain. You never have to worry about where it is or how you will get to it in an emergency.
When you press the pendant (or wrist) button, anywhere in your home or garden, dedicated, friendly and fully trained, monitoring staff are at hand within seconds (any hour, day or night) to speak to you, via the alarm unit. They assess you needs and implement the necessary action.
Even if they cannot hear you they will immediately respond. You need do nothing more; assistance will be on its way.
The personal alarm operates a two-way speech link to enable you to talk to the operator. Even if you are not near the unit, the operator will automatically be able to identify you, in person, and summon help, whether it be a medical alert or a call for aid.
The Morning Call
If you forget to wear the pendant alarm, or fall or take ill and cannot press the alarm button to summon help, the certainty of the COLSS daily Morning Call gives double reassurance. Unlike other alarm companies, we will telephone you every single morning at an agreed time to check that you are alright.
Using a fully computerised, custom designed system, our staff contact each client at a pre-determined time every morning. The system shows, on screen, the details for each individual client. This could include: details of any illness, circumstances, doctor's details, nominated contact details, special notes (remind client what day it is, remind client to take medicine)
At the end of each day, a computer printout shows the call details and logs any actions taken such as:
"Contact informed, will check" or "attention needed, doctor alerted".
You will enjoy a cheery chat with one of our friendly operators knowing that someone is caring about you. You will then have peace of mind in knowing that someone will speak with you every day of the year and that if you take ill, fall or have an accident at home, we will be calling and help will be at hand.
Clients receive their call at a set time every morning. If the operator is unable to make contact on the first call, another attempt will be made within the hour. If there is still no reply their nominated contact will be alerted and asked to check on the client.
If you are going out or do not need your call on a particular day, simply inform the morning caller or leave a message on the 24-hour answering machine.
If you are a Carer the call can offer you reassurance that, should anything happen to you, help will be at hand for the person you care for, a person who may otherwise be unable to summon help.
You may also find that the service helps alleviate the stress of caring. On some occasions the comfort of a friendly chat makes coping easier and the knowledge that help is only a phone call away can give peace of mind.
Establishing a daily rapport with our clients means that our operators are often able to detect if something is amiss, when talking with a client, even if the client themselves do not initially offer the information. We have found that very often a kindly prompt such as, "are you sure that everything is alright?" can often lead to an unburdening and to solutions that can be speedily effected.
