In 1991, the charity Safe Levern/Pollok Communities Project (SC020151) was established in the Pollok area of Glasgow with a focus on the safety and well-being of vulnerable members of the community.
In 1994, the charity Good Morning Pollok Project (SC024054) was set up as an extension of the existing charity in response to a number of tragic deaths of elderly people, people who had died alone and lain undiscovered for weeks and in some cases months
The service was targeted at council tenants, housing association residents, owner-occupiers and clients in the private sector who lived in the Glasgow area. However, by 1996/97, the service had attracted so much interest from other areas, that it was expanded into the Renfrew, Inverclyde and Govanhill areas.
In October 1997, a limited company called "Community On-Line Support Service" (COLSS) was created when it became clear that sustainability could not be maintained with the initiatives in their current form. COLSS now funds clients of both the Good Morning Pollok Project and the Safe Levern/Pollok Communities Project.
COLSS has become a local, family oriented service provider with a Scotland wide reach and we are proud of the fact that we have been providing peace of mind and security to the elderly, the vulnerable and others living or working alone since 1991.
Although we have evolved over the years our overall aim has always remained the same, to provide a high quality service at the lowest possible cost, to help people continue to live an independent life, whatever their circumstances.
