In its short history, Southern Dunes has received numerous awards from the golf industry: Top 10 courses built in the past 10 years (1987-1997) by Links Magazine, America's Best Top 40 Daily Fee Courses in America by Golf & Travel, Places to Play by Golf Digest.

Southern Dunes Golf & Country Club was opened in 1993 and was designed by golf course architect Steve Smyers. This dramatic hillside layout was built and is maintained to play fast and firm to enhance the bounce and roll of the ball. It encourages the use of slopes and contours to advance the ball toward the hole. Of course, playing the bump-and-run shots on uneven contours requires imagination and creativity.

The rolling terrain, steep elevation, large-and-fast greens and massive high-lipped bunkers make Southern Dunes distinctively different from your typical Florida course.

Southern Dunes also features full clubhouse amenities. The newly renovated 4,000-sq.-ft. restaurant offers a complete breakfast/lunch menu and dinner two nights a week. A new 1,500-sq.-ft. golf shop was also completed in December 2000 and carries the latest in men's and women's golf apparel, accessories, and equipment.
