I researched and wrote two briefing sheets for The London Ecology Centre in 1994.  One was on energy efficiency in the home, and another on cars and their impact on our lives. One of my main fascinations is the (still rather new) way of looking at things as Whole Systems.

I also began, but have not completed, a paper on Money andThere are not many geniuses; Bucky appeared to be one.... alternative economic and trading systems. Have a look at Buckminster Fuller's ideas, especially his take on money; also The World Game, which seems now to have evolved into the [for profit]  'osEarth'.   [You could try keywords like Synergetics, Geodesic Dome, The World Game, Dymaxion, Spaceship Earth, in  Google.] Or just go to the Buckminster Fuller Institute, where there are some of his books online, his lectures, an animation of his unique world map, and much more.

Another useful approach is to use Amazon for hard-to-find books and other material.

I have done library research, (and outlines), for two mature students, helping them with the writing of multimedia college papers.  One involved me in researching avant-garde theatre of the Twentieth Century, the other focused on the Human-Computer Interface. It was fascinating stuff. I wish I had known about, or had access to, things like Wikipedia before. As it happens, my local library, and its books, was quite sufficient for the guys to get a 2.2 and a 2.1 pass (whatever that means) - although the paper was probably the least of the evaluation of multimedia students.

pretending to be surprised in the computer room...(I took it) I am now a Senior Assistant, working at Cardiff Central Library (the same library!) since November 1997. Currently I work in the computer room [probably thanks to the above research on HCI], and I also have done some online tutoring to bring library staff up to speed, so they are able to deal with the new resources being introduced to the modern library environment.

When planning for a decade, plant trees.
When planning for life, train and educate people."

You have to see these cosmic pictures - OK, astronomical pic of the day, with words to explain what you're seeing. [If the first one doesn't get you, look in their Archives for the last few days.]

Prefer to go somewhere more peaceful and human scale right now? Look at the picture of 'moon-watching as an elegant diversion' at Tranquility Base.  Or, for something a little more startling, in the way of simple meditations and mind exercises, check out The Headless Way...   Be Seeing You!
