This was a friend of mine

Mick Swain     1947 - 1994

Mick was a self-taught craftsman, and a gardener, and a writer, who left many permanent markers of his time on this planet - in the form of walls, and gardens and fireplaces - but left too soon.

I'm a freelance gardener

Of slender means

I make my living

Planting rich men's beansMick with food, drink, plants, backgammon, reading material, and even a cat so smart that Mick (no cat lover) liked him

I pay no tax or union dues

Everyone tells me that I will lose

My pension rights when I'm sixty-five

And they're dead right, if I'm still alive
