Miscellaneous Writings - editing Mick Swain

Mick in a happy moment  One of my best friends - Mick Swain -  died rather young.

He always dreamed of writing his way out of poverty. I ended up with all his papers, and wanted to compile some of the unfinished work, perhaps to get it into the Brautigan Library for Unpublished Books

I think he would have liked being in the Brautigan Library. Or, given that his book "Another Kinder Time" is about the strange nature of time, I could say, 'he will enjoy that'.  I will e-publish it when I figure out how. I have a zipped file for anyone who would like to receive a copy.

The contents list  for his project about using diaries
A fragment of his own diary about going to see NoFit State in 1991
Here's my Intro to a compilation of stuff I made for his friends, which gives some background detail.

"It’s a poor sort of memory that only works backwards". Lewis Carroll

(external site - close window to return) Instructions for meeting Time Travellers As Mick claimed he appeared to have met some strange visitors, I am not sure if he would find this site funny or annoying. The strange events recounted in his book, however, happened when we shared a house in Pooles Close in Nether Stowey.

The mound in a very old postcard A more recent shot (nothing much seems to change)

Not a lot is known about The Mound in Nether Stowey - it IS a geological feature, but a strange one; it HAS had a castle built on it at some time; it IS magical.

There is an old connection between fairies and mounds; there is a modern connection between trickster visitors, alien visitors, ultraterrestrials and all those older myths of little  people....

Poodle's Close backs straight onto the Mount, which loomed over the garden of our house where the strange events occurred.....

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

A Blog entry of my own which grew into a piece (awaiting polish) on Lyrics and Bob (Mick liked Bob's 'way with words' even more than I do)
