Geoff Gascoyne, one of Britain's finest bassists, purchased the 7/8 cedar topped bass above in April 2003.

Geoff has since gone on to record the albums shown below with his Chennell Double Bass.

In November 2005, Geoff released his fifth solo album 'Keep it to Yourself'  which is an outstanding showcase for Geoff's exceptional talent and his Chennell bass.

'Capturing his robust, vintage-like tone on Keep It to Yourself came down to Geoff listening to his Tobias Chennell upright in the studio’s live room and then placing one mic in front of the bridge.'

Bass Player Magazine, March 2006

Gascoyne has recently bought a second string bass. “It’s a new bass”, he enthuses, “made by the English maker Tobias Chennell. It’s a 7/8 size and it has this wonderful lion headstock.” Gascoyne concedes that it is “a bit of a stretch with the left hand”, but counters, “the pay off is that you get a much bigger sound.”

Jazzwise Magazine, November 2007

'I have a bass that I bought last year. It was brand new made by an English guy called Tobias Chennell who lives in Bournemouth. It was the first bass he had made. I saw it and it just jumped out at me and I knew I had to have it. It was not expensive and it has a big more modern sound than my old bass. I used it on Jamie’s Twenty Something album'.
