The
Becker Medical Alert Card
The medical alert card was launched at the Becker Information day at Liverpool FC in March 2005 –the same event Becker United was launched at. The card is a credit card-sized document that can be carried by people with Becker MD which features detailed information and advice that doctors will find useful if the patient needs emergency hospital treatment.

Barbara McGillicuddy came up with the idea of the medical card following the death of her husband Ronald who had Becker muscular dystrophy and passed away following complications with his heart.
Barbara and the Thanet Branch of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign raised the
funds necessary to produce the card.and it is hoped that everyone with Becker
muscular dystrophy will carry one.
Becker muscular dystrophy is a rare condition and many Doctors may not have heard of and when they have a patient in an emergency situation who has Becker they need to know what appropriate care they need to take .
