Do you Know of any more.....

if so then e-mail me now !

GERRY McGOVERN

Well of course the flamboyant designer of the MGF had to drive one as well didn't he ? Actually he had more than one for personal use in his time as they were all company cars. Gerry has not owned his own car for over 25 years ! Here he's seen with Anthea Turner at Gaydon at  the F's first  birthday party.

ANTHEA TURNER

Rumour has it that she was given her F to try and boost early sales. She has stuck with MG though and now has an early MG TB which used to belong to her father. Here she is with her N reg F.

TRACY SHAW

The glamorous ex star of Coronation Street had her own F but has since taken possession of a Land Rover Freelander.

As of March 2003 she is back with MG and promoting the new "Cool Blue" Special Edition TF whilst touring the country in a play appropriately called "The Blue Room".

RICHIE NEVILLE

One time member of the boyband FIVE. He had a silver MGF until he managed to crash it whilst driving from London to this parents in Birmingham in the wake of his broken  relationship with Billie Piper ! The car hit a patch of water in heavy rain and spun into the central station. Uncannily like manager, Bob Herberts, accident the previous summer (see below). The picture shows the aftermath....

MICK HUCKNALL

The ginger haired Simply Red singer is said to have owned a succession of MGF's which he kept at various houses around the world. Not quite sure what the pic is about but it looks like a publicity shot at a Simply Red gig venue.

PAUL O'NIELL

Almost a celeb in his own right as a  racing driver, he even used to race MGF's for John Bintcliffe Motor Sport. He now drives for Vauxhall. His real celeb status though is that he is  also  the brother of Sporty Spice, Mel C. She gave him his first gold MGF.in 1999. Can't think why after he managed to write off her mercedes when he was only 17 !.

VICTORIA BECKHAM

Keeping on a Spice Girls theme Victoria Adams or Posh Spice as she was known then owned an amaranth  MGF around 1996 The reg was N 145 EUR.

But even then she was hankering after a Mercedes SLK ....Now , of course, she has a choice of any number of cars but I wonder if the F  is still holding a special place in her affections as her first sports car ?

Here she is in a newspaper shot of the car driven by "Posh".

CATHY DENNIS

Actually once Posh had finished with the F she sold it to another pop star , Cathy Dennis. You'll remember her from a string of hits in the early 90's and more recently as the co author of Kylies huge hit "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and for her involvement with the UK "Pop Idols" show. I'm not sure how long she kept the F but it's believed it was sold on again after her and ended up for sale in a Hertfordshire MG dealership. It was brought privately and is since believed to have been involved in an accident and subsequently written off.

BOB HERBERT

A bit of a background celeb but he was known for creating the Spice Girls and more recently managing boy band FIVE. He also managed the early boy band Bros.

Sadly he was killed whilst driving his red F in Windsor in 1999. He lost control in heavy rain and spun into the path of an oncoming car pushing the F into a wooden fence. He was cut from the wreckage but was pronounced dead at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough.

SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR

OK I havn't got any definite proof that she ever actually drove one and I've seen in interviews that she's not really that keen on driving but I heard a rumour that she and her manager, Andy, were given an anthracite TF as a thankyou for the publicity shots and unveiling of the new TF at the Brussels Motor Show. In any case it's an excuse to have another picture of Sophie draped over the bonnet of a Trophy Blue TF !

TAMZIN OUTHWAITE

Another Ex Soap star with a taste for MG's. Tamzin Outhwaite , who played Melanie in the BBC soap East Enders and more recently in Red Caps, has recently acquired an MGTF. She revealed this in an interview with the AA magazine. Tamzin states that the TF is "sporty, but compact and has a touch of class". Wouldn't argue with that but she also says  that "it doesn't attract too much attention - that's partly why I bought it". She didn't mind what colour she had as long as it wasn't green and it looks like she ended up with a platinum silver model.

KERRIE TAYLOR

Kerrie Taylor is an actress in the TV series "Where The Heart Is". She recently won the opportunity to use a TF 135 for three months at a charity event in London. When that time was up she couldn't bear to give it up and so splashed out to buy the TF for herself. She said 'It was great to win the first prize in the raffle whilst supporting such a worthwhile charity. The MG TF is fantastic to drive, a real thrill, I just had to have it!'

She plays nurse Beth Enright in Where the Hear is and previously starred as Lucy Benson in UK teen soap Hollyoaks. She also played bi sexual Viv in Brookside as a girlfriend of Anna Friel and has had parts in Crossroads and Heartbeat

911

Hands up who remembers this 90's boy band ?

OK - one or two  of you then

Well one of the members used to own this silver MGF and a friend of his offered it for sale on e-bay in February 2004 extolling it's celebrity connection virtues as a unique selling point. He didn't actually name which one of  the band it belonged to - so was it Spike Dawbarn, Jimmy Constable or even the main singer Lee Brennan ?

DARREN CAMPBELL

The gold medal winning sprinter used to own an MGF until someone pulled out in front of him and smashed it up. This info was revealed in June 2005 in an interview in GQ magaziine. Darren was a member of the 4 x 100m relay squad that clinched the gold medal in the Athens Olympics

ANNA FRIEL

Ok so we're not too sure on this one but in an interview with the Sunday Times driving magazine in October 2005 she mentioned the below ....

"I used to have an MG and I love having the roof down - it's the sexiest way to dry your hair. But I never felt very safe in it. It was tinny and light as though it could come off the road any moment..."

We now have confirmation that it was an MGF that Anna drove and hope to have some pictures of it soon.

JACKIE HIGHE

Ok so if you're not familiar with the world of Ladies Magazines you may not know this lady BUT she was also subject to a TV programme in 2005 called "It Beats Working" in which she gave up her high flying journalistic carrer as editor of Bella magazine to pursue a dream of becoming a jazz singer.

And the F connection?  - in the prgoramme she was seen several times driving her green MGF with it's special MGF number plate R10VVC.

JON CULSHAW

Impressionist Jon Culshaw is famous for his impressions of the Prime Minister on shows such as Dead ringers. Before that he was a DJ on Viking FM. He lives in Northwest London and was once the owner of a sporty MGF. This was in 2000 as his carreer was beginning to pick up. Sadly his MG experience did not hae a happy ending.

He had this to say about it in the Sunday Times Driving section on April 23rd 2006. " I was driving to Northampton on the M1 doing about 70mph in the fast lane when my front tyre blew. The car hit the central barrier, spun across the motorway and miraculously ended up on the hard shoulder. Luckily there weren't too many cars about. Remarkably I got out without a scratch and walked to the fence at the side of the hard shoulder. I gazed at some horses peacefully grazing and at the setting sun. It was so surreal. I thought I had died and was experiencing the afterlife . Fortunately for me I wasn't , although my car was a complete write off."

So it looks like this car is no more.

MICHAEL VAUGHAN

England cricketer Michael Vaughan was once the owner of an MGF. However he felt it didn't suit his image and was a "a bit of a hairdressers car". He may be good at Cricket but obviously his judgement is impaired when it comes to MGs !.

WING COMMANDER ANDY GREEN

RAF man Andy Green shot to fame by piloting Richard Noble's Thrust SSC world record breaking speed car in 1997 earning himself an OBE and man of the year award in the process !. He achieved a speed of 763.035 mph at Black Rock desert in the States and became the first man to break the sound barrier on land.

At the time of his record breaking he was the owner of a Platinum Silver MGF .

Currently he is about to drive the JCB Dieselmax speed car on a further record attempt
