After the Hogsback Hike this was the first
"ordinary" SEF meeting. There was a venue change away from
the usual Plough to The Chequers at Walton on the Hill , a large
rambling pub serving Youngs beer.
The lunchtime gathering was pretty sparsely
attended with only three Fs and a nice rust free Russett Brown B who
was allowed to be an honorary F for the day !

Barry, Sue, Kev, Rob & Elaine & TimM found
a table and enjoyed sunday lunch and a nice pint of Youngs whilst
nattering about all things MG.

The day had warmed up a little when we left the
pub to drive down to Cobham where we intended to meet up with some
of the people who frequent www.themgzr.co.uk
website (Recommended if you have an interest in ZRs) .
Two thirds of the F contingent went topless
for the short run past Epsom Racecourse and through Esher to The
Fairmile pub at Cobham.

popular amongst the ZR crowd |

When we arrived there were several of the hot
hatches in evidence , many with modifications as can be seen in the
pictures - the black ZR also had a moulded front bonnet making it
look even more like a batmobile. Most ZR types were here if you
looked hard enough including an Atomix and several highly tuned and
modded beasts with X power logos to the fore.

There was a small spattering of rain so the F's
hoods were quickly put back up again as we wandered around looking
at the ZRs. We found this one with interesting logo on the front and
chromed covers for several of the engine parts.
We had a short stay. Most of the ZR lot seemed
eager to get out on the road and let us hear their exhaust pipes
before heading off to the other side of the pub for a photo shoot.
Some would be heading down to Guildford for the afternoon Cruise.
We went home.
