New
Closed Road Circuit for Eastern Region
|
|
Since
the end of last year British Cycling’s Eastern Region Team have been in
discussion with MotorSport Vision, the owner of Snetteron motor race circuit,
about the possibility of holding cycle races and coaching sessions on the
circuit.
Last
week Nigel Hampton (Regional Manager) and Alison Lilley (Regional Go-Ride Coach)
viewed the 1.925 mile circuit, which includes; a restaurant, hospitality rooms,
classroom and workshop facilities. They were both very impressed with the
facilities and the first dates have now been secured to run youth development
training sessions.
The
first youth development session will be run on 11th April, with
another session held on 29th May. Both sessions will focus on road
techniques and skills, such as; group riding, echelon formations, pace lines,
team time trials, road sprinting, team tactics and mini races. Off the bike
activities will cover subjects like basic bike mechanics, nutrition and race
tactics.
The
use of the circuit will always focus on youth and junior rider development but
there is also potential for regular road racing events for all categories to be
promoted at the venue. Further development work may also be done at the circuit
for senior riders.

more information on the circuit please visit http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/
