Ipswich
Bicycle Club has eight fully qualified or trainee British Cycling coaches. The club has a continuing coaching education
programme for members who would like to become a coach or develop/update their
existing skills or qualifications. They are always on the lookout for coaching assistants, you can be either a parent
or member, and will have to undergo a club funded Criminal Records Bureau Check
and be a qualified First Aider, to allow you to work
with young riders.

Each coach
is qualified to at least Level 2 of the British Cycling nationally recognised
coaching programme. Every coach is a
first aider and has completed a Criminal Records
Bureau Check, to allow them to work with young riders.
Coaching Programmes for Young Riders
Ipswich
Bicycle Club delivers a wide range of coaching from basic and intermediate
cycling techniques, through to preparing young riders for competitive cycling
in cyclo cross or road racing. Each coach is qualified to deliver British Cyclings programme of Go-Ride skills, where riders can
progress through four levels of cycling skills.
Ipswich Bicycle Club is a Go-Ride accredited club, and is able to
deliver this programme regularly at club sessions and also externally to schools.

What equipment do you need?
Bring a
bicycle, (always check whether an off-road, or road bicycle is needed), helmet,
water, and appropriate clothing for cycling in all weathers.
What you need to know
Parental consent is required for under 16’s to take part in our coaching programme.
Forms are available at each session, please bring a parent guardian with you at your first session.
No form, no
ride.
A typical
session lasts two hours.
Sessions
cost £2 per rider.
Ipswich Bicycle Club operates from two main venues:
Chantry Sports Centre and Foxhall heath/Stadium.
Chantry Sports Centre provides a safe off-road level playing field for skills work and grass track racing, with indoor changing/toilet facilities. The centre is an Ipswich Borough Council Facility. Where is it? See this map
Foxhall
Stadium and surrounding woodland offers again a safe off road environment for road/track
techniques inside the stadium, and cyclo cross skills
and techniques on the heath. Foxhall is
also used by the club for regional and national rounds of Cyclo Cross racing.
