Detail of rear off-side brake assembly. |
 |
Detail of shoe return spring - Missy's rear axle is actually
a Roadster tube axle. These axles use a different return spring to
the GT and late Roadster Salisbury (banjo) axles - a Salisbury axle return
spring is held in comparison. |
Rust detail
Summer 2003 - 4 years of daily use and outside storage in the Great British
weather has resulted in rust forming. All four seams are going (common
problem), as is a small section under the windscreen surround. The
near-side door is in much worse condition than the off-side door, which has
presumably been replaced.
 |
Detail of front off-side rust under windscreen
surround. Water is penetrating the surface, running down the back of
the dashboard and dripping from underneath the fuel gauge onto the
carpet. Rust is solid and not flaky. |
 |
Detail of front near-side seam (off-side is similar).
This shows no visible rust on the wing itself (suspect both wings
replaced) but some bubbling on the inner side of the seam. Rust is
solid and not flaky. |
 |
Detail of rear near-side seam (off-side is similar).
The rear seams are badly bubbling, allowing water to leak into the pockets
either side of the spare wheel well in the boot. Rust is solid and
not flaky. |
 |
Detail of near-side door. Rust is showing on the
outside of the door skin and is presumably forming where the inner door
frame meets the outer skin. Rust is solid and cosmetic only; the
door bottom is rusting but is not visible from outside and is still solid. |
Paint details
Red is a dreadful colour for fading; Missy has had to live outside for 4
years and as a result her Tartan Red paint has faded and is beginning to bloom
on the exposed top surfaces.
 |
Detail of blooming and fading on bonnet. |
 |
Detail of bonnet before and after being attacked with T-Cut. |
 |
Detail of blooming on roof. Presumably a result of
poor preparation prior to respray before purchase in 1999. |
