There have not been any new releases of ARMEdit since December 1997. However, the following changes have been made to the current development version:

The device driver performs automatic relogging of devices when files are changed or discs swapped. |

More descriptive disc names are generated by the device driver based on the path being accessed. |

A smaller message size is used for communicating between the Acorn and PC systems to prevent data corruption on misconfigured systems. |

The order in which Toolbox modules are loaded has been corrected. |
| |
Quitting the !ARMEdit front-end with external edits active now correctly handled. |
| |
Memory requirements reduced. |
| |
More efficient operation udner RISC OS 4. |
| |
A handful of minor bug fixes. |
However, due to a severe lack of spare time, this version is not likely to be released in the near future.
Many other changes could be made to ARMEdit sometime in the future, such as:

Integration with the planned multiple configuration support in PCPro. |

An improved installer that can optionally modify CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files automatically. |

Allow the PC card configurations to control ARMEdit, for example extending the ARMEDIT.SYS command line. |

Add option to automatically start the PC front-end when !ARMEdit is loaded. |
| |
Conversion of the documentation into HTML to make it more accessible. |
Some features are frequently requested, but are never likely to be implemented due to their complexity:

A version of the device driver that supports write operations. |

Support for automatic file conversions between common DOS and RISC OS formats. |
