EventsMESSY SPACE
On Saturday November 28th, we will be having a follow up to Holiday Club during the morning, in the upstairs hall, from 10am - 12 noon. This is called Messy Space, and it is an opportunity for children and their parents to come and join in with some craft activities, with Advent and Christmas in mind. All are welcome, so please invite along children you know, although they will have to be accompanied by an adult. We are looking to collect unwanted CD/DVD's (like the kind you might get free in newspapers), old Christmas cards and shiny paper. If you have these to pass on, please bring them to church on Sunday mornings. NOVEMBER TIP FROM THE ENVIRONMENT GROUP - It's tempting to throw away used batteries, but they can actually be recycled. There is a container at the recycling centre by Middlewood Way, or you can place them in the container at Morrisons Supermarket. ORDERS ARE NOW BEING TAKEN FOR ADVENT CALENDARS - If you are interested please contact Marjorie Bonehill, at Church or Tel 427 9790 or by internet a.m.bonehill@btinternet.com ACTION FOR CHILDREN (FORMERLY NCH) COLLECTION BOXES -These are now due for opening. Can you please give them to either Sue Palmer or Sybil Handley as soon as possible. If you would like a box or want to know more about the work of Action For Children, please speak to Sue. Last year we raised £405.80 - thank you all very much - Sue Palmer - 427 5487 THE BLUE PETER APPEAL this year is supporting the children’s charity ‘Operation Smile’ which helps provide operations for children in India with cleft lips and palates. Gifts of money will also be received for Action for Children. AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL - At this time of year we are asked by Amnesty International to send a greetings card to someone who has suffered human rights abuses. By sending a simple greetings card you can have a great impact, not only on the person concerned, but on their families and fellow prisoners. Cards can help protect them too - telling police, prison staff and the political authorities that the world is watching what they do. Please send a card. The booklets with all the information are in the concourse. Please take one and respond to this appeal. Nola Miles - Amnesty International Marple Group. |
