10. Old Roman Road
This is one of the best areas during migration, especially spring, for warblers. Garden, Blackcap, Common and Lesser Whitethroat, Reed and Sedge turn up most years and Grasshopper Warblers have been seen here in the past. It is also good for common woodland species and what seems to be the more and more elusive Bullfinch. Many years ago a Great Grey Shrike spent some time along this tree and bush lined path. Yet another area that warrants more regular, early morning attention – when I retire!
