12. Meadside
This arable field to the south west of Dorchester is a favoured area for large flocks of Lapwing and Golden Plover during the winter. The best time tends to be the early part of the winter as later on the birds move elsewhere. Counts of over a thousand of each species are not uncommon. Yellow wagtails can frequently be seen along the fence between this field and the Dorchester Bypass during spring and summer.
