The best thatI can come up with is that the Harradines were paid to carry onthe name of a local nobleman who had no offspring. It may alsohave been that there was some illegitimate offspring somewherealong the line, but it is something we will probably never knowas all records were destroyed in the English Civil War and asfar as I can tell non of the Harradines was of noble birth andworthy of mention in public records. However, there was a HarDe Wyn (or something similar) a Norman, who was given land inthe area, shortly after 1066, and the name is similar enoughfor me to dream of some link, however tenuous!!
