Letter sent to Mikes site re Slew Problems on autostar not just ETX scope

 

Hi Mike

 

Well got my etx 125 back and set it up.

The famous alt Slew has now vanished and all they had done was replace a faulty motor unit which was the left to right ?(broke due to motor failure I think but the alt motor was ok funny don't ya think?)

So the only thing that I can think of is the software did not go in to the autostar properly? they reloaded it from a new one. (clone)

Also if you go to set-up and adjust for quite slew the scope moves very slow in all directions ( has Meade got any ideas on this) my autostar is 2yr old so is it an hardware fault or software?

But when I took it off quite slew it works well and I could locate Saturn time after time with no alt slew so please post this on your web site so other people may sort out there faulty slew problems and I can only suggest the following

 

1  power is now connected to a 12 volt car battery (will last all week before a charge)

2  if you still get the alt slew first change power source? ( consider new Duracell AA in the case not some cheap battery)  just to try it you never know

3  try a mates autostar or borrow one from your local dealer or next star party you go to

4  if the answer to number 3 is a no go then Download auto software again DO NOT USE THE ONE YOU ALREADY DOWN LOADED JUST IN CASE IT DID NOT DOWNLOAD PROPERLY?

5 RELOAD THE AUTOSTAR but try a slower baud rate you never know

 

I think that just about covers it mike this goes out to all autostar user's not just the ETX family try and put this on your web page as a !  NEWS FLASH  !     so every body who logs on can see it with out doing a search and lets see the feed back we get  could be very interesting I think as I only found out about this after you e-mailed me and I looked on your site for months just goes to show how big its getting?
