Police Insignia Collectors Association of Great Britain
8, Foxon Lane Gardens, Caterham, Surrey, CR3 5SN. ENGLAND.
Thank you for your enquiry about our Association. Allow me to tell you something of PICA of GB. The original idea was to try to gather all genuine collectors of police insignia and to create a central register in order to contact one another for trading etc.
Since that time, we have grown from that original idea into an organised association whose members are interested, not only in badges, but also in the history of the police forces from whence they came. In January 1975 a two page ‘news sheet’ was published and this has grown into a fully illustrated magazine, published three times a year. A full list of members and their collecting interests is also published annually and distributed free to members. The Association has its own tie, tie tac, and other distinctive items, as well as a stock of badges and other items which are available for sale to members according to a set procedure.
|
The Annual Subscription for membership is: which will be renewable on 1st January each year |
£14.00 (UK) |
£17.00 (WORLD) |
|
There is a joining & registration fee of: (inclusive of a PICA lapel badge) |
£5.00
|
£5.00 |
|
Thus your TOTAL initial fee will be: |
£19.00 |
£22.00 |
Please note: cash is acceptable in Sterling, Euros or $US. We do accept Paypal, but that will incur an administration fee of 5%
Subscriptions are due on the 1st January each year and MUST be paid by the 1st of February at the latest. All money is paid into the Association’s account, and is used solely for the printing and postage of the magazine and other allied expenses. All officers and committee members are unpaid and devote much of their free time for the benefit of the Association. In order to minimize costs an SAE is appreciated when writing to committee members about PICA matters.
I hope this has told you a little about us. Our membership continues to increase and I feel sure that you will be able to benefit from becoming a member of the UK’s first police collecting and historical association.
I enclose an application form with this letter. Applicants living in the UK should pay by means of cheque, postal order or money order. European applicants can pay via Girocheque, payable at the British Post Office Giro Centre, other applicants should submit payment in Sterling, made payable to PICA of GB, NOT to an individual.
Please read carefully the notes on the back of the application form. I look forward to receiving your completed form in due course.
Yours sincerely,
Tony Collman
PICA Membership Secretary
