Lament 

Nightfall, another sun sets 
Like uncounted ones before 
For a creature that never forgets 
This sunset is just one more 

Like an attic is my mind 
A jumbled store of memory 
Of the life I left behind 
An immortal's treasury 

I cannot live, and cannot die 
A gladiator of eternal night 
In the arena, you and I 
But you won't win the fight 

While I wait for the day to die 
In my crypt with the dead 
Blood tears, everyday I cry 
In my coffin, encased in lead 

Yet when darkness falls 
and with it the vampire wakes 
You hear my silent calls, 
you follow, and my heart aches 

Another victim drained 
Innocence consumed 
To still the hunger that pained 
The one who is doomed 

Another life gone, flown by 
Memories of another face 
Another body lifeless, dry 
To remain in that dusty place 

The immortals curse I bear 
To remember all I do and see 
A doom no one may share 
Alone forever I am destined to be
