Spending all your energy
In one cataclysmic outburst
There is nothing left to sustain you
And you collapse
A shadow of your former self
A dead star
You no longer shine
From the depths of a black hole
There seems no escape

But that final explosion
Scatters the seed for new life
Throughout the void
Matter for new stars to form
Gravity takes over
Attract enough
And maybe one day you will shine again

Caveatar sent me this poem:

(What occurs when something is subjected
to more pressure than it can withstand
while there is no place available to
which it can move? In various cases...)***

Dead Star --> Stellar Phoenix

The star was born by gravity's desire
The dust was inflamed to its own fire

In the great darkness bright was she
By her great light new life came to be

Time does move on and as on Time went
Her substance and energy became spent

Within the depths of the star's heart
Reactions were trying to tear her apart

To the bursting point tension increased
Temperature rose, flares were released

With a fiery burst as of flames of hell
The star collapsed inside her own shell

A star who had given birth to new life
Withdrew from all the so-tiring strife

In self-defense now holds in her light
Drifting lonely through the empty night

(...The thing is crushed, it explodes,*** or it changes state.)

But though the star seemed dead and dark
On a new lifepath she was near to embark

Amid the pressure which was squeezing her
New and different reactions began to stir

Atom fused with atom with energy released
Reaction fed reaction: the fire increased

What had been dark as surrounding night
Then began to shine with a renewed light

Spectrum shifted but all colors are there
Not exactly as before, perhaps more fair

A Dead Star awakes, the darkness is torn
A Stellar Phoenix from the ash is reborn

A Lone Wanderer in Darkness looks up and waits
to see the result when the star changes states
