What's it all about?
This website was created due to a letter received from a former Redcar
friend. You can view this letter by selecting the link above.
There is also links to a forum and guestbook where you can air you views.
The purpose of this website is to alert the people of Redcar to the general
demise of the town and to bring the council's mismanagement and lack of
concern to their attention.
Acknowledging the Regent's Walk complex is one new aspect of Redcars rejuvenation,
there are still many other tasks that could be done to improve the town
generally.
THIS SITE IS NON POLITICAL AND HAS NO FINANCIAL ASPIRATIONS We do not care
who is in power - AS LONG AS THEY DO THEIR JOB PROPERLY! Redcar in Decline
has a vibrant, interactive comments section in which many views, both positive
and negative are aired. The Council also has the chance to answer any questions
posted in this section.
Some of the issues:
Redcar Council appears to believe that all we need in Redcar is obstructive
speed humps/bumps/pinch points/road narrowing etc. The people want amenities,
the kids want areas to play in.
Redcar Paddling Pool area for instance has only just been restocked with
a new multi play centre.
This has taken years of constant lobbying. It shouldn't have to resort to
lobbying, someone should have realised this eons ago. Lets have some money
spent on the people of Redcar, not just on anti motorist/speed measures.
Lets
put lighting along Redcar Stray walkway giving locals a good mile of safe,
well lit pathway. Lets drive out those who live in the dark and frequent
this area late at night. They keep out the decent people in the twilight
hours.
Many people want this lighting but obviously the Council is still blinkered
by its own sense of what is good for the electorate.
WHO KNOWS BEST? Redcar will never be a place we can feel proud of or would
recommend visitors to, until the Council sort out their priorities and listen
to the active voice of the electorate.
The shortsighted, archaic practices in force at present and the Councils
inactions, even in the face of public opinion, leave much to be desired.
If the Council ever do get it right, reassess priorities, and take their
head out of the clouds, Redcar could once again be a place on the map that
could be a pleasure to visit and to live in. .
If you have ideas that could help get Redcar back into shape, air them on
this website. We may be able to staunch years of neglect.
REMEMBER COUNCIL OFFICIALS CAN, AND DO, READ THESE PAGES.
