How To Make A Basic DVD
First you wil need the following tools:
- TMPGEnc Plus v2.5 - (SHAREWARE) - Click HERE to download.
- TMPGEnc DVD Author - (SHAREWARE) - Click HERE to download.
1st. Start TMPGEnc 2.5 and click CANCEL .

2nd. Now we will adjust some settings first to help TMPGEnc deal with a variety of file types. Click OPTIONS at the top and select ENVIROMENTAL SETTINGS like so:

3rd. You should see a screen like this, click on the VFAPI Plug-in tab and match your settings to look like the following, don't worry if some files aren't there as long as the ones with numbers to the right have been set and are present, the others don't matter.

4th. Click OK, and back to the previous screen.
5th. Now, click FILE at the top and select PROJECT WIZARD.

6th. Select either DVD,SVCD,VCD and PAL for European DVD players and NTSC for North American and Japanese DVD players.On VCD and SVCD's ensure you use CBR STANDARD FORMAT for the audio, and for DVD's use CBR MPEG-1 LayerII as well.
7th. Click NEXT…
8th. Now add your movie by clicking the top BROWSE button after VIDEO, the AUDIO should add itself automatically, then leave the bottom settings and click NEXT.

9th. You can ignore this next screen and just press NEXT.

10th. On this screen ensure you select the appropriate disk you are using, if your not sure, check your disks for their capacities, and ensure the file doesn't exceed the size of the disk, if this is ok, then press NEXT.

11th. Now simply push the OK button and away it goes.

12th. You should now see a screen like this one…

13th. Ok, pop the kettle on and wait, this takes between 2-6 hours depending on the encoding and other programs running.
There is NO WAY of speeding this process up and no other program that makes the same quality faster!
14th. When its 100% close the program down and test the large MPEG file it created in Media Player to ensure it didn't freeze while converting…
15th. If all went well, open TMPGEnc DVD AUTHOR now.
16th. Click CREATE NEW PROJECT and click ADD FILE which is the new MPEG TMPGEnc v2.5 created.

17th. On this screen just click OK, nothing needs to be changed.

18th. Now click the CREATE MENU tab at the top. Now, I don't normally split my movies with chapters, id rather burn it whole. So I will show you how to do the same.
19th. Click the DISPLAY MENU SETTINGS button first and make sure your settings match the following exactly:

20th. Now you can choose your theme and save it, choose a background, edit the text to say the movie name, add a frame around the box in the middle, etc…etc…etc… Until your happy, not a lot you can do wrong here. Mine looks like this:

21st. Now click on OUTPUT at the top, and you should see a screen like this:

22nd. Click BEGIN OUTPUT and wait, this again could take a MAX of 20 mins to convert the MPEG into a VOB file ready for burning, when its done a screen like this will appear:

23rd. Click OPEN DVD TOOL and it should look like this:

24th. Last of all, enter a blank DVD-RW into your drive and click Write. This shouldn't take long to do, and the result, one custom DVD for you to enjoy.
