Spring Break 2008
Day 1
four of us
met in Reading and then rode to Basingstoke to meet up with the rest of the
Vultures.
Stopping only for lunch and fuel, we made the ride in 4 and a half hours

On arrival, H distributed
the Keys to the Chalets and sorted out sharing arrangements.
One of the benefits of booking the Holiday is that we spend a bit extra and book
a whole Gold Standard van to ourselves. While the others looked out onto
the green, the view from our
window was magnificent.

Once we were unpacked and
showered etc, we made our way down to the Club
where Mick took some dancing lessons.

Day 2
Now Kev
had had a few problems with his bike so had to ride down at night. He arrived in
the
early hours and as he didn't want to wake anyone, slept in his sleeping bag in
the car park.
However, a good breakfast and a warm welcome saw him join us for our first
rideout to
Looe.

Walking around the shops we
found ourselves on the seafront where we saw
a Glass Bottomed Boat tour. Much rubbing of hands ensued as we excitedly
joined the queue.

We were all astounded at how
clean the water was and, although we didn't see many fish,
we did see a few including a starfish, oh, and lots of sea weed.

Woody explained how much a
trip to the Zoo would cost Claire, while the rest of us spotted a seal.
He's a bit blurred in the photo due to the excitement. (I mean the Seal, not
Woody).

The boat trip was a real
bonding experience as you can probably tell
by this picture !

During lunch, Col talked
about getting a Tattoo done. The bloke in the Restaurant told
us there was a place around the corner, so off we went.
£70 later Col had a sore arm with 6 Stars on it.

That evening we spent
another fun night in the club where we cheered,
clapped and generally livened up the place.
We were so enthusiastic, the Manager came over and thanked us !

Day 3
We started off with a trip to the Shipwreck Museum in Charles Town.

Danger Will Robinson... Danger...

It was a bright day and slightly windy, nothing to stop us enjoying a walk and the views though.

Or some of the younger members of the Club from building Sand Castles.

Another night in the Club where Kev showed us his new hat.

Day 4
Our final rideout of the week was to Mevagissey. On arrival we stopped in a cafe for a hearty meal.

Although the sun was out,
the wind was brisk and very chilly.
In fact it was so bad that the fishermen didn't go out.
It didn't stop us walking to the end of the quay though where Keith got soaked.

To warm up and dry off, we
visited Mevagissey's world famous Model railway museum.
To be honest, it didn't take long but it was sort of interesting looking at the
detail involved in it all.
It was a good example of 'it's not where you go it's who you're with', as we all
talked about it for a while after.

Our last
night in the Club was the best. With Wolfie, Little Red and Keith entering the
silly games competition
which was eventually won by Keith.
Doesn't he look proud !

Helena gave Wolfie a
consolation prize.
(By the way. Who told Wolfie his hair would fall out?)

Much frivolity followed including Kev comparing underwear with 'H' and Colin finally pulling a Bird.

Over the week we'd really
got on with the Manager and Stripy Coats so it was only fitting that
we pose for a photo with Paxo the Chicken.
Apparently, some of the kids were upset at this as they hadn't been allowed. Did
we care???
Of course we didn't !

Day 5
It's
always sad to pack up and leave, especially when you've had such a great time.
This week was no exception to the rule.
Riding home gives you time to think about what you've done, who you've been with
and how it went
I can honestly say, without a doubt, that thanks to those who came
along and joined in wholeheartedly with what we did, this was the best Vulture
holiday yet.
We not only enjoyed each others company but bonded in a way that you can only do
if you spend time with people.
Thank you to you all.
