Newsflash

It's now official and confirmed.

We Have Moved
September 2008 was our last meeting at the Flowing Spring.
(We had a Barbeque to say goodbye).

The venue for all Vultures meetings is now:

Redingensians Rugby Club,
Old Bath Road,
Sonning,
Reading,
Berkshire,
RG4 6TQ

Its great news as we have outgrown the Spring but didn't want to leave as we got on so well
with Steve the Landlord.
However Steve is in charge at the new place so we get a bigger venue, lots of space outside and a
place where we will be able to put on shows and maybe even rallies.

I'm looking forward to the next stage in the growth of the Club.

Stay Safe.

Col

2008 Committee Positions

As voted in by the Members at our February 2008 AGM.

As a reminder, all committee members must attend at least 75% of the Rideouts and 75%
of the meetings every year. i.e. at least 9 Rideouts and 9 Meetings. A combination of both
which reaches a total of 18 attendances is not sufficient.

Committee members who do not meet the required attendance will be
able to stand the following year as acting. However if they do not meet the required amount
in their acting year, they must step down at the next AGM.

This year Committee is as follows:

Rep. Col.

Deputy Rep/Rideout Officer. Mick.

Treasurer and Charity Officer. Helena.

Newsletter Editor. Geoff.

Acting Dealer Liaison Officer.  Ren.

Official Club Greeter. Gerry

Merchandise Officer. Wolfie.

Acting Membership Secretary. Sean.

Acting News/Publicity Officer. Responsible for promoting our club in the Press/TV/Radio. Woody

Acting Social Secretary/Show Organiser. Vicky. (Stimpy to her friends)..

Club Liaison Officer. Position Vacant.

Rideouts

All our rideouts start at the old Little Chef building on the Basingstoke Road, next to the Petrol station, just off Junction 11 of the M4.
As most of our members live on this side of town, it seems sensible to meet here.
(Please remember to fill up your tank on arrival)

Riding on a Rideout

As we’ve began riding out as a group again, I thought it might be a good idea to remind everyone of  our Rideout protocol.

When moving together, on an open road, the pack should ride in staggered formation, so each rider has a suitable braking distance, but the overall length of the column is minimised to reduce inconvenience to other road users. When the road ahead is clear, but has bends, the column can spread out a little, to allow each rider full use of the lane width for correct positioning for safety, view and progress around the bends. However, the gaps should not be big enough to allow an impatient motorist into the middle of the pack. As road or traffic conditions cause the column to slow down, the staggered position is resumed. A point to note here is, that which ever position you start off in, i.e. the outside of the lane, is where you should stay throughout the ride. If, for whatever reason a rider in front of you drops out, do not change sides to maintain the correct stagger, merely move up one position on the same side, thus re-establishing the formation without affecting other riders.
For safeties sake, all inexperienced riders and those on slower bikes should ride towards the front of the group on the inside lane.

The Thames Vale Vultures  exists to bring together people  interested in riding or owning a bike, or simply being part of the Biking  Community.

The aim of ‘The Vultures’ is to meet people, have fun and ride our bikes whenever possible. All points of view are welcomed, valued and  considered. Not every club can say that !
