Bob & Ray

......Bob saves Rays life......

THE JETS (especially Ray and Bob) would like to say a "BIG THANK YOU" to everyone who sent emails and comments asking about Ray and Bobs' recent kidney transplant operation.

For those of you who are unaware of what has been happening.
Ray, due to an inherited kidney disease was in critical need of a kidney transplant to save his life, so Bob (his brother) actually went into hospital for the major operation to donate one of his perfectly healthy kidneys to younger brother Ray.

SUCCESS ------SUCCESS--------SUCCESS-------SUCCESS--------SUCCESS

After the operation on JULY 2nd 2008. Ray is on the road to making a great recovery, although he will be having regular trips to hospital to make sure that the new kidney (he now has three) is not being rejected by his body.
Bob is almost back to full fitness and his body is getting used to living on his one remaining kidney.

The boys will be back gigging on 23rd and 24th August 2008 and Bob, Ray and Tony are "chomping at the bit" and are counting down the days.
Both Ray and Bob would also like to say a big "Thanks" to the third and youngest brother Tony for "holding the fort" and doing all the jobs for the band over this worrying period.
ALSO, a very big "THANKS" to Professor Nicholson and all the operating team and staff at The Leicester General Hospital, Renal Unit.

BAD NEWS--------------BAD NEWS-----------BAD NEWS---------BAD NEWS

Tony, I'm afraid is also now on the kidney transplant waiting list as he also has got the same terrible inherited disease, "POLYCYSTIC KIDNEYS" and will possibly need a transplant within the next couple of years!!

Most people on the Rock šnš Roll scene will know of The Jets the 3 Cotton Brothers, playing since 1974, and hoping to continue gigging all around the world.

Due to a genetic disorder that is inherited from birth, a faulty gene is passed through the family from their father causing cysts to form on the Kidneys, known as POLY CYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE. The kidneys start to fail and the patient will need dialysis or have a transplant to stay alive.

Unfortunately I have reached this stage and have renal failure, my future looked very bleak, when faced with having dialysis everyday, and I would have to cease playing in the band and stop travelling.
The average waiting time for a transplant being 2 - 3 years. Not a good position to be in.

Fortunately for me, my brother, singer and bass player with The Jets Bob Cotton, does not have the faulty gene and therefore has perfectly healthy kidneys and in a selfless act of kindness has offered to be a kidney donor, therefore saving my life, I cannot express how grateful I am for this chance at life.

Both Bob and myself will have to undergo major surgery in early July and will need substantial recovery periods, but we will be gigging again when we are back to full fitness during August.

This unfortunately has a down side, as not only myself, but my younger brother Tony - Drummer with The Jets, suffers from the same condition, being 4 years younger than me has not yet progressed to the same stage of renal failure, this is only a matter of time before Tony needs a kidney transplant too.

Hope to see you all at a Rock 'N' Roll club in the near future.
