The Leicestershire Branch of the
   Christian Police Association
Newsletter October 2009

Our CPA ‘Purpose, Mission and Vision’ (see the link on our web site) has three core strands that could be summarised as ‘Fellowship, Communication and Community’. These core strands are well illustrated in Acts 2:42-47 in the section entitled by the NIV as ‘The Fellowship of the Believers’:

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

Their fellowship provided encouragement and support for one another, meeting regularly in church and in their homes. The ‘teaching’ was well communicated by various methods so that everyone was filled with awe and favoured them. The links with the community were strengthened as the fellowship contributed towards their needs.

This is a powerful model for us to follow, and is something CPA has been doing for over 125 years, but of course we can always do better. Our branch web site outlines the various aspects of what we do - let me know if you can help with any part of it! And as we enter the Christmas season let us remember to share the message of ‘Peace and Goodwill to all’…
