When we suffer with a serious physical ailment, we make our way to the Doctor’s surgery. We don’t want to see the Doctor’s mother, we need a one-on-one consultation with the Doctor himself because he alone is qualified to diagnose our ailment and prescribe the appropriate remedy.
We all suffer with a serious Spiritual ailment called sin and if ignored, our Spiritual ailment will prove terminal. So we need a one-on-one consultation with The Great Physician, the Doctor of souls, Jesus Christ.
The Virgin Mary is revered and highly favoured, but the Doctor’s mother doesn’t have the remedy to our terminal Spiritual ailment called sin. Only Jesus, the Son of God, can do poor sinners good because only He is qualified to diagnose our ailment and prescribe the appropriate remedy.
Christmas was the most unique event in history. Never before or since, has a virgin conceived and given birth in such a miraculous way but it was God’s way of doing for sinners what we could not do for ourselves. We were born to live but Christ was born to die. The Bible says, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”.
The cross was not an unexpected, premature end to His life; it was the object and fulfilment of His rescue mission. No one took His life from Him, He willingly offered Himself on the alter of the cross as a sacrifice for our sin. The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
By the power of His death and glorious resurrection He conquered for all who believe and receive the cure!
Jesus Christ is not like a lifeless doll lying in a Christmas crib, nor is He pinned in defeat on a crucifix. He is risen from the dead! He is alive and His name is Emmanuel - which means ‘God with us’.
Seek this Glorious, risen, conquering Saviour and Great Physician with all of your hearts, you will surely find Him. Do it, and make this the best Christmas ever!
