Dalby

2 hr MBO Score Event

Another excellent event and this time planned by Jens Strain who produced another very accurate map. Thanks to him as well as the usual group of volunteers. Dalby is a superb area for MBO with such a network and variety of tracks. Jens had used the middle section of the forest to good effect and route choice was critical again. I decided to miss out quite a few low scoring controls that I could have visited and it seemed to work.

With only one event to go the league table makes interesting reading. It looks like it’s between James Taylor, Andrew and Wayne or Tim Moorhouse in the A class. C class is very tight with 6 possible winners and it’s similar in the super vets. It’s down to 2 riders/pairs in 3 classes;

Joe Dobbs or John Tiffany in the J class; John & Amanda or Ruth & Paul in the mixed: Ceri Williams or Jill & Carol in the vet women. The rest of the classes are probably decided with Mandy Faint (B), Karen Blackburn (F), James Gash (Y), Mike & Beth (G) now that Jess has a broken ankle, and Dave & Roz in the vet mixed who will be trying to stay ahead of the younger pairs. Prizes donated by Westbrook Cycles and York Cycleworks as well as wooden plaques will be presented at the Silton event so please don’t rush off home.

Sue Adams will be on holiday so please send your entries for Silton to me this month.

Don’t forget:

* Dalby Bikeathon this weekend – email entries to Jens.Strain@btopenworld.com

* Guisborough Trailquest on October 30th – entries to Paul Thornton

A couple of other bits and pieces:

The cyclists touring club are campaigning for the right to open up new rights of way to cyclists. They are trying to do it by forcing an amendment to a bill due to go before parliament in a couple of weeks. The following link has details and if you wish to add you support to the campaign you can send a standard letter to email to your local MP: www.ctc.org.uk
