The central character, Alan (Colin Firth), is an aspiring director, who apparently cannot separate art from life, with unfortunate consequences. He falls in love with a beautiful woman (Catherine Zeta Jones) but tries to manipulate her as if she were a character in a film. She learns the truth about Alan's ways, and ultimately she teaches him a lesson in real life. From its bright and breezy Roy Lichtenstein-inspired pop cartoon Title credits to its quieter conclusion (to the strains of "Blue Moon"), this made-for-TV comedy/drama is lively and entertaining. |

The story follows the man as he tries to gain sponsorship from first Portugal and then Spain. The historic voyage across the Atlantic is portrayed as is the landfall in the Americas. While distorting history and being somewhat flawed, the film received a positive critical reception at first but the final judgement pegged it as a flop. |

Splitting Heirs (1993)| Genre: | Comedy |
| Lead Cast: | Eric Idle - Tommy Patel |
| Rick Moranis - Henry | |
| Barbra Hershey - Duchess Lucinda | |
| Catherine Zeta Jones - Kitty | |
| John Cleese - Raoul P. Shadgrind | |
| Director: | Robert Young |
| Writer: | Eric Idle |
| Country: | UK |
| Rating: | 62% |
| Plot: |
A member of the English aristocracy dies and leaves his estate and business to his
supposed long lost son Henry (Rick Moranis). An Englishman, Tommy Patel (Eric Idle),
who believed he was of Indian decent comes to suspect that he is the true heir. Tommy
grows to hate Henry who is his boss, his friend, and the man who has stolen the
woman after whom he lusts, Kitty (Catherine Zeta Jones). He formulates a madcap
scheme to kill Henry and claim his rightful inheritance.
Splitting Heirs is a classic 'babies switched at birth' story. Unfortunately the talents of Monty Python duo Idle and Cleese fail to put a sparkle into this rather mediocre comedy. If you have an hour or so to kill then this film will fill the gap. The scene with Catherine Zeta Jones swimming naked in her pool is definately a highlight :-) |

| Rating: | 67% |
| Plot: | 1930's cartoon strip character The Phantom is reborn on the big screen. The legendary fighter of evil becomes involved in a chase for three mystical skulls to prevent a ruthless gangster from harnessing their supernatural power. This lackluster film trys to capture the feel of the 1930s serials. Billy Zane, best remembered as the phycho pirate in Dead Calm, plays the Phantom with Treat Williams as the evil Xander Drax. Kirsty (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) Swanson provides the love interrest and Catherine Zeta Jones plays Sala, a villainess and head of a crack female fighter squadron. |
