A. chalcodes is a good beginner spider, however a little on the nervous side and will readily kick urticating hairs. This species will adopt an artificial burrow, such as half a flower pot, and will dig if given deep enough substrate. It's natural habitat is desert / scrubland, A shallow water dish should be supplied. we feed ours on medium to large crickets, 2 or 3 once or twice a week. A. chalcodes is a very slow growing tarantula, a spiderling can take as long as 10 years to mature. |
