| The Mayor's Chain was presented to the Town on the 5th April, 1877, by the
first Mayoress (Mrs. John Duckworth). |
| The MAYORESS'S CHAIN |
| The Mayoress's Chain was presented on 6th May, 1897, by the then Deputy-Mayoress (Mrs. John Hall,
of Waterloo, Manchester Road), "in commemoration of the long reign of Her Most
Gracious Majesty the Queen." |

| The CORPORATION MACE, |
| The Corporation Mace, designed and executed by Messrs. Elkington & Co., Ltd., was presented by the
Executors of the late Mrs. Martyn, "to mark the unique honour conferred upon
her brother - Sir John Parks - by an invitation to occupy the Mayoral Chair
for a fourth time." |
