SEWERING, PAVING AND STREETS COMMITTEE
The duties of this committee include the making up of all private streets, which, until they are completed in accordance with the requirements of this committee, remain reparable by the owner of the property abutting on the streets. As soon as they are made the corporation takes the responsibility of keeping them in repair. The laying of all sewers is under the supervision of this committee, as is also the duty of approving plans for all new buildings erected in the borough. No new dwelling house can be occupied until the Borough Surveyor has certified it to be fit for human habitation. This committee is empowered to deal with dangerous buildings, and on the failure of the owner to render them safe, can give instructions for the necessary work to be done and the cost recovered from the owner in default
