The Health Committee, as its name implies, is largely responsible for the
health off the borough. Samples of food and drugs are regularly taken and
analysed, nuisances arising from black smoke, insanitary property, etc.,
are dealt with by this committee. Dairies, cowsheds, and milk-shops, factories
and workshops, canal boats, shops, common lodging houses, all come under the
supervision of this committee. In cases of epidemic, the Health Committee
has to take steps to stamp out the disease, and care is taken that all cases
of infectious disease are at once notified.
