Peals rung on Kempston Bells

 

To date (October 2007) there have been 148 recorded peals on the bells of All Saints', the first being in 1893 which would have been rung from the ground floor in what is now the choir vestry. To search for peals rung at All Saints, Kempston visit www.felstead.org.uk. This is a unique database created by the late Canon K.W.H. Felstead originally recorded as a card index, though recently having been transferred to an electronic format. Within the ringing room at All Saints' are a number of Peal boards recording major events over the years. These include:

  • 15 November 1947 - Last peal rung on 6 bells before augmenting to 8

  • 11 December 1948 - First peal rung on 8 bells

  • 2 June 1953 - Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II

  • 7 June 1977 - Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II

  • 24 May 1978 - Last peal rung on 8 bells before rehanging

  • 13 May 1981 - First peal rung on 10 bells

  • 3 June 1992 - In memory of Ralph Chapman

  • 19 April 1995 - In memory of Clive Parrott

  • 6 September 1995 - To welcome the Rev. R.J. Sutton

  • 3 June 2002 - Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II

  • 17 March 2007 - 125th Anniversary of the Bedfordshire Association of Bell Ringers
