National
Finals of Music for Youth at the Royal Festival Hall
On
Monday 2 July 2001 the Year 2 Choir from Westfields Infant School, conducted by Mrs Carpenter, sang
at the National Finals of Music For Youth. It was held at the Royal Festival
Hall on the South Bank in London. Earlier in the year the choir had taken
part in the regional competition, held in Aldershot and had been chosen
for the National Finals. They were one of only ten infant school groups
chosen from the whole country.
Two
coaches went from Yateley carrying the 50 members of the choir plus school
staff, school governors, parents and grand-parents of choir members. Many
other supporters went directly to the Royal Festival Hall by train.
The
main performance was on the stage of the Royal Festival Hall.
Lunch
was on one of the balconies overlooking the Thames.
The
choir gave a second performance in the foyer of the Royal Festival Hall.
