Allen Carr

Allen Carr, who was at Wandsworth School from 1945 to 1950, died on 29th November 2006. Allen had become quite famous for his anti smoking books and clinics. His first book The Easyway to Stop Smoking has been published in 30 different countries and his clinics number 76 all over the world. When his death was first announced it was the first item in the 10 o’clock news and Radio 5 paid a tribute to him at 11 o’clock by inviting listeners whom he cured to phoned in with their tributes. He is credited with having cured over 10 million smokers with his method.
Allen's brothers Derek and John also went to Wandsworth. Derek starting in 1949 and John started in 1951.

Reg Finch.

Sadly, Reg passed away Wednesday 8 June 2005 aged 83, after a short illness.
He was a pupil at Wandsworth Grammar School, from about 1932 to 1939 and played rugby for Old Wandsworthians for a number of years as did his younger brother Derek who passed away in 1997.
Reg's funeral is on Friday 17 June 2005 at Worcester Crematorium at 12 noon.

Ronald Ian McGuire

Ronald Ian McGuire, known as Ian, who was head boy in 1965 died on 12 March 2003 in Venice.

At school he was a member of the choir and captain of Cricket, Rugby and Football. He went onto play football for England School Boys in goal, and played for West Hams Youth, and trained along with the great names of Trevor Brooking, Bobby More.

After a groin injury he moved onto play with Tooting and Mitchum. He then became a keen rugby player, and played Prop for London New Zealand for many years which were based in Barnes, but disbanded in the early 80's after the ground was sold to developers.

His football connections stayed with him throughout his life, and he chaired Leatherhead Football Club in the early 90's bringing Justin Fashenau to the team.

28th November 2002: Memorial Service For Geoff Mance

Geoffrey Mance, who was head boy at Wandsworth School in 1967, died on 2/11/02 after a long fight against cancer.
All the main papers carried his obituary ( a copy of the one in The Times is attached) and all mentioned he was educated at Wandsworth School.
A Memorial Service is being held for Geoffrey at 11am on 28 November at St Martin in the Fields, Trafalgar Square and his family are trying to ensure that all his old friends know.
