Message: I was on a banca (Philippine boat) somewhere between Batangas and Oriental Mindoro, sitting next to this old fart (strangely we were both reading Russian authors!) Yep, it turned out he was at our school - told me of its demise. I was there between 1955-60. What a wonderful life experience that was!

Message: Hello Jim I was at Wandsworth (Wansworff) 1968-1975 Here I am at 4.30 a.m. just after christmas feeling rather sad to discover that the school has been knocked down and a GIRLS school built on the site. Andrews (1968 -1975) We were unbeaten in 1972/3 althought the team a year older were very strong. I also remember ainslie harriot,Ernie Carth, alan bone, vincent davis. Malcolm dewhurst, ken burns, keith fowler, steven fowler, steven godden, philip gibson, andrew kettle, richard goodwin, piers shore (RIP)Tony Saldji, gary colman staff: derek Williams, john vockings, Mr bacchus (scary, Louise ackerman, miss Bride, wally Hammond Maths 1968-1970?)+ sally?) russell burgess, john bourton? Message: I was a pupil at Wandsworth 1952/1957 in Morley D set. and in fact watched the building of the 'new school'. To be honest the details of my time there are fading into the mists of history but one friend's name comes to mind - Michael (Ben) Gunn so if you see this Ben and remember me drop me an e.mail. A little bit of info. in the picture of 50's masters second row from the back and first on the left is Dr. Medinger who took me for chemistry. I have hardly set foot in the U.K. for the last twenty years so it came as rather sad news to know that Wandsworth was no more. I am glad that at least the Old School building will remain intact and, I hope, populated with the ghosts of the little monsters that I know my friends and I were.

Duncan's brother Douggie Livingstone turned up in the memorial TV show about John Thaw. He was at our school over the 1947 to 1954 period and then went on to Bristol Univ before treading the boards and getting into TV - both acting and script writing.

Message: Decided to search for info' relating to the school following several emails via friends re-united. I was at the school from 1969 to 1975 and returned four years ago to find it had been closed. I wandered around the derelict new part of the school taking photos but was prevented from entering the old school by a security guard. I was in the choir until I left school but lost interest when at the age of 15 RB, (driving me home after a late practice session), asked me if I had a girl friend. I tended to lose my head on field trips, doing stupid, stupid, things. The most notorious being rescued by the coastguard from the top of a 200 foot cliff at Ilfracombe. Later that year I walked the Pennine Way with Andrew Kettle, Edmund King and ANother whose name completely eludes me. Regards to all who remember me and please feel free to write.

I was a member of the choir (basses) under Russell Burgess from 1956 until the school closed in 1988. I have organised two choir reunions - the first in 1997 and the second in October 2000, both very successful and attended by about 70 choir members. Another choir reunion is being arranged this year - probably in November 2002. Please email me if you would like details. Best wishes to all who remember me.

Message: I was recently on vacation in France and ran into Patrick Cassidy, who was joint head boy at Wandsworth in the 1988-89 year. We spent several enjoyable hours reminiscing about boys and teachers at the old school. Patrick is the priest in charge of the Anglican church in Marseille. He still looks much as he did in the two pictures of prefects supplied to this site by John Davies. He's not very au fait with computer-related stuff and was quite unaware of this site and that of Friends Reunited. He has often wondered what happened to his contemporaries at Wandsworth and, although he has no Internet access, he would love to hear from those who remember him. He can be reached by snail mail at: Rev. Patrick Cassidy 73 La Canebiere (Appt. 83) 13001--Marseille France His telephone number is: (00-33) 491.90.18.81

Message: Really sad to hear the old school had the larry. Like most OW's have great memories of the school. Was a member from 59 to 64. Pitt was the house and Mr finbow the master in charge of us. Seems a waste for it to go,it was a great school and good teachers. It is good that the school lives on in our memories. Facilities were first class the old school should have been turned into a museum. Regards to past Wandsworthians both pupils and teachers alike.

The pictures and lists bring back many memories but not too many names. I was in Cromwell C. The set master in the first few years was Mr Kyte, I've quite fond memories of him. Less fond momemories of some of the others. The Fenns, H.Raymond, Ascher....It was a school with character and characters. Message: I attended the original school between 1952 - 1957.The playing fields fronted the site until the powers that be at the Town Hall decided it was time to erect what I consider to be an architectural. I was in Pitt (c), the house/form master being Horace Aubrey. Finishing my time at Wandsworth in form 5TH which was a technical form. In hindsight I'd wish I'd stayed on, but at the time, I like most of my peers wanted to escape into the adult world. Unfortunately time moves on and you lose touch with friends of that era, to name but a few, Brian Barlow, John Bussien, Godfrey Miller, David Graham (who gave me my first cigarette) and many others. Great days!

How Found: Friends reunited
Message: Found this site on a slow sunday at work. Some of the names bring back vivid memories and the years disapear. How I couldnt wait to leave and then spent most of the time wishing I was back. Life was so simple then. What a mess the old site is now(Feb 2002) i bet the residents of the Grove wish the school was back now. Still, If you want to be reminded of what the place used to look like, It appears regularly in re-runs of the Bill on UK Gold. If any one remembers me (and doesnt mind admitting it) drop us an email, I still visit London regularly and have been known to stand a pint for old 'friends'. Southfields now has a pub, something apparently forbidden for years by some obscure religious contract which has apparently expired, and guess what, Its a Wetherspoon house (Cheap beer, cheap food and no bloody computer games or background music) Best wishes to all
