Astronomy and Space Science

We shall be covering the origin of the universe, the formation of stars and galaxies and our own solar system with its planets, moons, comets and asteroids. The talks will be illustrated throughout and start with comments on the night sky during the month of each talk.

Exploring the Natural World

This course is designed to help you appreciate the wide range of habitats in Surrey, including domestic gardens, and the wildlife that they support. All sessions will be interactive and illustrated with digital photography.

Day: 4th Thursday of the month
Time: 14.00 to16.00
Venue: St John's Church Centre, Merrow (Merrow Hall)

 

Making Sense of the Weather

The course will comprise four sessions. They will cover some elementary theory, with tips for making short-term forecasts, many photographs of cloud types and how to interpret weather maps. No previous knowledge necessary - just a healthy interest in the sky!

Science Forum

Presentations are made from a wide variety of subjects by members who have either a special interest from their working life or an enthusiasm for other aspects of science. Short talks on current developments as well as more in-depth lectures give a rich variety of information.
