We continue our exploration of the period from the mid 19th century to the outbreak of World War II, both in Britain and abroad. A member of the group presents a paper, followed by discussion. The papers will deal with notable people and their ideas, political matters and new forms of social development.

Dynamics of History

We have started to study the History of Europe from 1789 to 1914 which will continue for the current year.

1st Tuesday of the month

Exploring Local History

Code: 50  

The format for local history has been established. Members explore a topic of their choice and share their knowledge and discoveries. Visits in October and April.

Day: 3rd Tuesday of the month
Time: 10.00 to12.00
Venue: Emmanuel Church

 

Pubs & Churches 1 & 2

Code:  114/123  

We will meet at a church in the morning, have a talk from someone connected with the church or from the leader, stroll around the area and have lunch/a drink at the local pub. Walking shoes advisable, numbers limited. Individual donations to church funds, £2 suggested.
