STORM SPARKS Tournament

THE GOOD NEWS ...
The organisers would like to thank the players and officials of the all the teams that took part, and all the prize donors - we raised over £3000 for the SPARKS charity.

THE NOT SO GOOD NEWS ...
We had to halt the tournament at around 3:30pm.  There was a huge downpour, a short STORM !  The courts were waterlogged and the organisers asked the team coaches if they wanted to continue and consensus was to go home.  We are sorry that the tournament, which was going so well until the rain, had  be stopped, but we really had no choice.  We also lost our St John's ambulance cover during the storm because an emergency call making it doubly dangerous to continue.

SOME TEAMS ENJOYED THEMSELVES ...
"
Just a note from Crawley Down Netball Club to thank you for having us at your tournament.  The girls had a great experience and learnt a lot from watching more able players.  Keep up the good work, we did not have any reason to be in any way unhappy with all the hard work put in by the organisers.  Thank you for hosting such a worth while tournament.  Kate & Alan

As far as we are concerned, the safety of the girls at our tournaments are paramount, whatever the circumstances.

Comments

Unfortunately I have had to delete a forum thread on our tournament as we have had complaints from the parents/officials of the team involved, please keep comments general - all personal comments, or comments aimed at particular teams, will be deleted.

To answer some of the points:

  1. we are sorry we missed the 2 minutes silence for Remembrance Day, we forgot and nobody reminded us!

  2. we are sorry we could not award the trophies, the weather beat us.

  3. we are sorry that some umpiring decisions were not to the supporters liking, that's life ! (all umpires were neutral)

  4. the tournament officials never received any complaints at the time of the competition for dangerous play, this would have been the most appropraite thing to do.

  5. the results have been posted on this web page for quite sometime, please go here

  6. we are grateful for the generosity and good spirit of 99% of the people present, that allowed us to collect over £3000 for charity despite the poor weather.

  7. PLEASE do not use our web site to propagate a negative side of netball, positive comments only, as Thumper was forced to say, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all !"
