- 29 Rushmoor |
| Our team was: Millie
(GA), Erin (GS), Claudia (C), Frances (WA), Shivali (WD), Rebecca (GD) and
Josie (GK).

| Very
fast and hard game. Our players were All our players played very well,
although there was lots of contact, Millie seemed to cope quite well with
it. Rebecca felt and hurt her wrist and we ended up playing with 6
players. Rushmoor had many more players and kept on changing them, which
meant they had fresh players and our players were getting tired and more
tired, but they gave it their best and apart from a few clumsy passes, the
standard of the game was very high. Well done to everyone!

v 4 Ants |
| Our team was: GS
Erin (captain), GA Joanna, WA Kirsty, C Julia, WD Heather, GD
Claudia, GK Paige |
| The
weather couldn't have got much worse as everybody was freezing from head
to toe. There were many contacts from the opposition and a few on our
side. The balls were thrown hard and from a far distance often
meaning that the receiver of the ball could not catch it. The match was a
tough one but we tried our hardest and managed to score a few more goals
in the end. There were a few injuries but the strong girls overcame the
pain and got back on court ready for the next part of the match. At the
end of the match everyone was dying to go home as it was so cold! |

v 6 Tadley Tigers |

(GS), Joanna (GA), Kirsty (WA), Julia (C), WD (We didn't have one!),
Claudia (GD), Faye (GK) |
| Hello. I'm Joanna. I was the captain for
this match. We started of strongly scoring one goal after another.
Although there were only six players we worked well together. we haven't
been training much since the Christmas holidays and it felt very good
being in a good match like this one. we did do a few contacts and our
footwork was blown up a couple of times but on the whole, the play was
good. we had a couple of brilliant interceptions on our side, our defence
is strong and are hard to get around, so personally I felt sorry for
Tadley Tigers. they are a good team but for us this was a great start for
our first match, since Christmas, in the Wednesday league! |

September 2002, Basingstoke League U12 STORM 6
- 24 BUGS |
| Storm line-up: Joanna(GA), Paige(GS) ,
Faye(GD), Kirsty(GK), Heather(WA), Julia(C), Claudia(WD) and Emma(Reserve) |
| Storm Under 12's turned out for their first
match of the season with three players making their debut. Facing very
tough opposition against a more experienced Storm Under 12 side Storm took
the lead initially-the score at the end of the first quarter 2-2. Some
changes to the Storm line up were made and Bordon started to pull ahead to
2-11 at half time. Paige Richards at Goal Shooter announced that she was
not feeling so good and the Storm line-up was re-shuffled, but the Bugs
defences demonstrated some fine skills assisting their side pull further
ahead bringing the score to 4-20. Storm never gave up and showed grit and
determination playing some of their best netball in the last quarter.
final score 6-24.
Coach Anna Fearnley was pleased with some obvious signs
of improvement in ball and footwork skills from this latest Storm line up.
Well done to the entire side who played with such enthusiasm. |

| Despite a list of 10 players
that could make the Manor tournament on the day only 7 actually made
themselves available. This was a good tournament, well organised. Teams
had lots of play with one match on one match off. However, it proved to be
a rude awakening as the first run out of the season for Storm Under 16's.
With only one training session under their belt, lack of fitness was
clearly evident in all but two of the 7. This, coupled with the inability
to realise that such competitions provide stronger opposition than
available in the local Junior league in Basingstoke. Coach Anna Fearnley
however was pleased that some of the enthusiasm and effort more associated
with Storm Under 16's returned and an almighty cheer broke out when the
shots finally started to go in form one player in particular who was
clearly having 'a bad shooting day' It was indeed pleasing to
witness this better and more familiar play during the match between Storm
and New Campbell A. It has to be said that the team was entirely Under 15!
(one player actually Under 14!) Not a point that was mentioned by the
coach on the day to the players, so, with this in mind we should look
forward to The Manor Tournament next year with the same group of girls and
improved results.
Player of the Day: Sam Brennan. Sam turned out fit had
obviously been practicing her shooting and we witnessed some superb shots.
Sam displayed an example to the rest of the team who perhaps need to think
about maintaining their fitness during the summer break!
Well done Sam! |
