Fundraising ... for your club
Kingsmill Free Kit for Clubs: As you know grass roots sports are seriously under-funded, which is why Kingsmill, in association with the CCPR and with the endorsement of “On the Ball” presenter Gabby Logan, decided to get the ball rolling.  Kingsmill Free Kit for Clubs offers sports clubs the opportunity to collect for free kit and equipment across a wide range of sporting activities.  Kingsmill are constantly updating the scheme in response from feedback from participants, so if you have visited the site already be sure to look for new kit and equipment available!  Many thousands of clubs have registered on the scheme, but we are sure there are plenty more out there who could benefit from free kit and equipment.  And with tokens on packs until August 2004, there is plenty of time for everyone to collect! How to Collect: All you have to do to earn free kit and equipment for your club is register online at www.kingsmillkitforclubs.com or alternatively you can call 0870 60 60 090; calls charged at National Rates (or from ROI call 0044 870 60 60 090; calls charged at International Rates). Remember, once one person from your club (aged 18 or over) has registered you do not need to register again.

STARS GET THEIR KIT ON FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK

Celebrities from music, TV and sport are raring to get their kit on for the 2003 Celebrity Netball Sevens at Crystal Palace National Indoor Arena on Sunday, 5th October 2003

Over 50 celebrities will be putting their ball skills to the test in aid of Cancer Research UK during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Atomic Kitten, Mis-Teeq, Jordan, LibertyX and stars from Hollyoaks, Eastenders and Emmerdale have all given it their best shot in previous years. And, this year is looking set to attract more celebrity faces than ever - all eager to win the prized Celebrity Netball Seven’s trophy 2003.

Netball Seven’s is proud to team up with Cancer Research UK as event beneficiaries. The Netball Sevens is also supported by England Netball with each celebrity team having an England player in their team to help with winning tactics, tips and tricks.

The Celebrity Netball Sevens for the first time will host extra matches and activities over the whole weekend.  Saturday, October 4th will hold the under 12’s, Mini Sevens and The Junior Super Cup for the top under 14’s with teams coming from across the country to participate. The Junior Super Cup Finals and the Mini Sevens Presentation will be held during Sunday’s Celebrity Netball Sevens.

Cancer Research UK is committed to curing cancer by understanding its causes and investigating how best to prevent and treat it.  The charity is the major funder of breast cancer research in the UK and this year will spend more than £15 million on the disease.

Stars hit the court at 11 am and as in previous years the afternoon will be crammed full of entertainment including celebrity ‘Penalty Shoot Outs’.  Tickets are priced at £8 Adults and £5 children and available from 0115 912 9111 or www.wayahead.com Group discounts are available.

There are still a few places remaining in the Mini Sevens tournament, to receive an entry form or for general enquiries email us at charlotteoneill@cup.uk.com or call 0208 989 2239

3rd July 2003 STORM at Pontins
STORM took two teams to Pontins last weekend from the 27th - 29th of June.

< STORM Force 12 (from left to right) : Paige, Georgina, Natalie, Kirsty, Martha, Lucy, Sarah and Emma.

STORM Force 13 (from left to right) : Shivali, Rebecca, Heather, Claudia, Josie, Erin, Joanna and Emma. >

STORM Force 12: They won one match on Saturday morning against the Pil Titans and finished 6th in their group at the end of the tournament on Sunday afternoon. Although they did not do very well in some of the matches, they kept the drive and determination all through the tournament, not once they looked defeated, they certainly made it hard for the opposing team. My special thank you to Fran (Paige's mum) and her friend Lorna, who helped tremendously the whole weekend and looked after the U12 team beautifully.

STORM Force 13: They started the tournament on Saturday morning in a very high note, after winning against Bridgewater NC, they also won against Dinno Dynamites and drew against Finchampstead.  On Sunday morning, they again started the day by wining against Bridgewater NC and later drawing against Mayflower and Coca Cola. They ended up in 3rd position in their group, which was a good result.

Both U12 and U13 teams played against lots of teams they had never played before, some of them very good indeed, it was a very interesting experience.  Apart from the netball, the girls enjoyed using the rest of the facilities at Pontins, the swimming, the go-karting, the arcade, the disco.... there was also a fair ground very close to Pontins, so quite a few of us went to the fair on Saturday evening, (Great Fun!!!) just before we returned to Pontins for a bit of a dance. The atmosphere was really good and I really think we will be going back to Pontins next year.  Mari-Carmen

13th January 2003 Request from the Isle of Man
My name is Marie and I currently play netball for a team, based on the Isle of Man.  Our team have been discussing the possibility of coming over to England for a long weekend (preferably a bank holiday weekend) to play a few games of netball.   Obviously as we live on the island it would be easier for us to fly to Liverpool and as such we would not want to travel too far.  With that in mind I wondered if you could help with any tournaments that may be arranged within 2003 or possibly if it is possible to arrange a few games with local teams.

Our team itself is called C&S Construction Joinery Limited and we have been playing together for around 5 years.  We are currently playing within the Premier Division on the island although I wouldn't say we were at county level.  So therefore would prefer to play against teams of our own standard.
